Sincerely welcome your visit to our college; We present new visions, new challenges, and new knowledge platforms to the agriculture and life sciences sector to lead the future of humankind and realize the Best of Best in the world.
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, which educates and studies agriculture and life sciences, has been the cradle of agriculture and life sciences in Korea for the past 110 years since its foundation in 1904 as the College of Agriculture, Commerce, and Engineering of the Korean Empire. And our college has played a pivotal role in achieving miraculous national development from one of the poorest countries into the world's 10th-largest economy by providing the engine of industrialization through the Green Revolution and the White Revolution.
As of now, our college consists of 7 departments and 17 major programs, including advanced science departments related to life sciences such as Animal and Plant Biotechnology, Environmental Science and Food Science, as well as traditional agricultural science and liberal arts such as Agricultural Economics and Rural Development, Rural Sociology, Regional Information, and Vocational Education and Workforce Development. So, the various fields of studies enable smooth and active interdisciplinary convergence.
Agriculture and Life sciences is the core discipline to deal with the most crucial issues in humankind such as food, life, environment, energy, and water resources. Its possibilities are infinite as it is a pragmatic area to resolve the challenges of international cooperation and the problems of humankind regarding the issues. Our alumni have made remarkable achievements not only in education and research, but also in the industrial fields. As a result, demands and expectations for them are increasing at a faster rate.
From now on, our college will focus more on research and cultivating creative and convergent human resources based on the growth and achievements over the past 110 years. Now, we should take a bold and firm step to develop into the Best of Best college. We ask for your active participation and support for our college, which will take a quantum leap to the world's Best of Best that presents new visions, new challenges, and new knowledge platforms to the agriculture and life sciences sector leading the future of humankind.
