The Interdisciplinary Program in Agricultural Biotechnology is a graduate level program. Its faculty members were drawn from the departments of plant science, applied biology and chemistry, food and animal biotechnology, and forest sciences. The combination of faculty expertise and research programs provides great opportunities to apply developing biotechnologies to a variety of agricultural fields.

Agricultural biotechnology can be applied to diverse areas such as the development of genetically improved crops for the second green revolution, the development of bioprocess technologies for new biomaterials of economic importance, the development of pollution-free pesticides, efficient biological waste treatment for environmental preservation, and processing technologies for the innovation of the food industry.
