It's early summer, and the green grass is beginning to grow and the lawn is bursting with life. The 2024 Seoul National University President's Ball Tournament was held this May. Whimori, a soccer club affiliated with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Seoul National University, is participating in the President's Ball Tournament and playing hard. We talked to Kim Jaejin, a member of Whimori, to find out more.

Q. Could you briefly introduce yourself?

A. Hello, I'm Kim Jae-jin, a 20th-year student in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development who is active in the soccer club 'Whimori'.

Q. Can you tell us about the soccer club, Whimori?

A. Whimori is the representative soccer team of CALS, and it is a team that boasts excellent skills and tradition, such as winning the runner-up, fourth place, eighth place, and top scorer in the intramural league and various ball competitions every year despite competing with many teams. Despite being a club affiliated with CALS, it is an open club with members from various colleges, such as the College of Humanities and the College of Engineering. The club's activities include participating in the Seoul National University Soccer League (S-League), competing in various tournaments such as the Chancellor's Cup and the General Sports Competition, holding twice-weekly morning training sessions, and holding practice matches with other soccer teams. In addition, we are actively engaged in social activities such as group soccer matches, futsal, training and post-game dinners, MT, and sectarianism.

Q. What made you decide to join the club?

A. I had the idea of joining a soccer club after returning from the military, and naturally, I joined the only soccer club in CALS.

Q. What position do you currently play and what role do you play at Whimori?

A. I currently play at the left wingback position for Whimori.

Q. What is one of your most memorable moments during your time at Whimori?

A. Morning training is the most memorable moment for me. We have regular morning training every Tuesday and Thursday from 7-9am on the dormitory field. The morning practices usually consist of scrimmages against other teams, and even though it's very early in the morning, there are always at least 11 people on average who show up to make sure the games run smoothly. If you're looking to live the Miracle Morning of waking up to soccer in the morning, Whimley is the place to be.

Q. Finally, do you have any words of advice for promoting Whimori?

A. Many students may be hesitant to join the club due to lack of skill, excessive drinking, or busy schedules. However, Whimori has a training and game system that is inclusive of all skill levels, a non-pressure atmosphere, and free attendance at events and games. It is a club where you can meet friends from your college or other colleges and create life experiences and memories together. Please feel free to contact the captain at any time.
