Just a week after the start of the fall semester in 2023, on September 4th, the 2nd floor of Building 200 buzzed with fellow students eager to participate in the College of Agriculture and Life Science (CALS) Job Fair and corporate promotions. This job fair took place over two days on September 4th and 5th, with the participation of more than 30 companies closely related to various majors within CALS, including CJ CheilJedang, Samsung Display, Sampyo Food Co., Ltd., Igeon Industrial Co., Ltd., and Sesco Co., Ltd.

Among the numerous company booths, we explored a few. The first visit was to CJ CheilJedang, which had the longest line. The personnel manager at the CJ booth introduced the recruitment of new employees in the food and common sectors for those holding a bachelor's degree or higher (graduates or those expected to graduate by February 2024) in the second half of the year. Detailed information about recruitment positions, responsibilities, and preferred qualifications was available in the provided pamphlets, and attendees could inquire about suitable positions and the hiring process based on their majors and areas of interest.

The next stop was the booth of Kyoungnong. Kyoungnong is a company engaged in researching and developing smart farming, pesticides/fertilizers, and breeding. They offered various fields that students from different CALS majors could apply to, including marketing, sales, R&D, production/technology, and HR/management. Particularly, the R&D field attracted students pursuing master's degrees. Like at the CJ booth, individual consultations with company representatives provided insights into the recruitment plans, strategies for written tests or interviews, and resolved any uncertainties related to job preparation.

One student who participated in the job fair expressed, "Despite having only a few semesters left until graduation and limited opportunities for career exploration due to factors such as COVID-19, it was a valuable time to directly hear explanations about companies and job roles from HR managers and ask questions." Another participant mentioned, "There were significantly more booths operated by companies compared to last year, allowing us to hear stories from people working in various fields. Information shared by seniors working in the industry about the companies and roles they are directly involved in will be helpful in planning future career paths."
