The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development is dedicated to advancing innovative research and providing high-quality education that addresses some of today’s most pressing global challenges. Our academic and research initiatives cover essential areas such as sustainable agriculture, natural resource management, environmental and climate change issues, agri-food trade, policy and business, agricultural markets and value chains, and both regional and international development. We offer two comprehensive, interdisciplinary majors: Agricultural and Resource Economics and Regional Information Studies, accessible to both undergraduate and graduate students. These programs are designed to integrate advanced research methodologies with practical problem-solving approaches, equipping students to analyze and address contemporary socioeconomic issues effectively.

Undergraduate students earn a Bachelor’s degree in Economics, with the option to specialize in Agricultural & Resource Economics or Regional Information Studies. Our graduate programs build on this foundation, offering specialized research and learning opportunities designed to prepare students for influential roles in academia, industry, government, and public service.
