On March 2, 2023, the entrance ceremony was held at 11 a.m. at Gwanak Campus General Gymnasium. In 2023, 3,610 new students will take their first steps to school. Due to COVID-19, it was not held in 2020, and was held online in 2021 and 2022. This year, it was held face-to-face for the first time in a long time, and many new students attended the entrance ceremony and broadcast live on the school's official YouTube channel. To hear the thoughts of a new student about their admission, we met with Choi Jin, who entered the university as a student in the Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development Studies.
1. Please introduce yourself briefly.
Hello :) My name is Choi Jin, and I entered the 23rd grade of the Department of Agricultural Economics and Social Studies.
2. Is there a reason why you applied to the Department of Agricultural Economics and Social Studies?
As agriculture and food are commonly mentioned as main topics in the future, I thought I could learn knowledge that could be applied or adapted to future society. Personally, unexpected experiences have ultimately left positive impressions on me. With the expectation of being stimulated by a new field that I have never encountered before and how it can be helpful later on, I applied.
3. Since CALS admits freshmen through an integrated selection process which means you will have to choose a major after finishing your first year. Is there any major you want?
I'm not sure yet. Through the ‘introduction of agricultural and regional development’ class, I will learn and explore the contents of the majors.
4. Do you have any dreams or aspirations for your university life?
Performing in a band and being on stage is my dream for university life. On a smaller scale, I look forward to walking with friends and classmates under the cherry blossoms on campus, ordering delivery food in the 버들골(grove on the campus), and studying in the library.
5. Could you please give a word of encouragement to your fellow freshmen?
Congratulations on getting through the university entrance exam. I hope you enjoy your university life as much as you worked hard to get here.
